YOLO! Is Here!

Camp arrival is @9am tomorrow.  Bus pickups at Hobby Lobby, Northwest Bank Towers (@Northpark), and Calvary Baptist Church (@Walcott) are at 8:00am.

Camp departure is @3:30pm from Camp Conestoga.  Buses return from camp by 4:00pm.

When you arrive at camp, look for the unit leader with your flag color!

What to bring:

a refillable water bottle

a mess kit OR a non-breakable plate, cup, fork and spoon

a mesh bag with a drawstring to hang dishes on a line (lingerie bag from $ store works well)

something to sit on (sit upon or bleacher cushion—chairs are too heavy to carry around)

hat or bandana (girls will be given a bandana the first day of camp)

a rain coat or poncho  (small emergency rain poncho from K-Mart or Target is just $1)

sun block and bug spray (non-aerosol – each girl must have her own)

Mosquitoes and ticks can be a problem some years.  Please teach your camper how to use bug spray (spray away from people and food and not in face or eyes) and to deal with ticks.  Simply picking a tick off is perfectly ok.

Any unpaid balance, health form, overnight permission form.

Sack lunch, Swimsuit and Towel (Monday only)

Dress code: Dress for the weather.   Shoes should be closed toe and heel. NO SANDALS

T-shirts with short sleeve or longer – NO Tank/Halter/Tube TOPS

We’re in the woods, so long pants are advised, but shorts are OK.  It will be cooler than in direct sun most of the day as camp is amidst the shade trees.

Send rain gear every day as we DO NOT use UMBRELLAS!

Please come prepared for the weather. Camp will be held UNLESS there is an ELECTRICAL STORM. Cancellation will be broadcast on WOC radio (AM 1420) in the morning, and posted here NOTE:  We RARELY cancel for weather.

FYI: the National Weather Service alerts Camp Conestoga when severe weather is 30 minutes away. In addition, camp staff monitors a weather radio during stormy weather; and we have a weather radio on Day Camp Hill. We have emergency plans in place and storm shelters nearby should they be needed.

Let’s hope for good weather and a wonderful week at camp!
